Galen’s singing career began at a young age with the encouragement of his mother and Grammy award-winning choir director at Huron High school, Richard Ingram. Galen was then accepted into the prestigious music and jazz program at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he studied voice, piano, guitar, composition, arrangement and sang in the renowned vocal jazz ensemble Gold Company directed by Steve Zegree. Galen won five Downbeat Awards from the renowned Downbeat Magazine. “It’s a great feeling when people appreciate and respect your work, and that moment reinforced my decision to dedicate my life to making good music.” Soon, Galen was performing all over with jazz legends Kurt Elling, Bobby McFerrin, Chick Corea, Johnny Mathis and Darmon Meader, just to name a few.” “Throughout my career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best.
