Pianist Shulamite Chung is originally from Taiwan, where she began her music study at the age of 4. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, and recently received her Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her teachers include Nina Scolnik, William Heiles, and Christos Tsitsaros.
As a piano teacher, she has taught students of various levels since 2014. During her graduate studies, she served as a teaching assistant for Group Piano, where she taught courses on keyboard skills for undergraduate music students. Shulamite is a passionate teacher and an advocate for musician wellness. Her goal as a teacher is to help her students enjoy playing the music they love without technical barriers. She believes everyone can achieve mastery with proper coordination of the physical body in service of the music.
