Alexias Ferrer

I am a pianist originally from San Marcos, Texas that has been studying the piano for 29 years. I began my piano studies at the age of four with my mother, then began taking formal piano lessons at age six. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Texas State University in 2016 and earned my Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University in 2019. I’m currently expected to graduate LSU with my Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Spring 2025.

I’ve performed many solo recitals locally and abroad, including at the Musicartissimo Music festival in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 2015 and as a collaborator for vocalists and instrumentalists. I began teaching piano in 2011 at the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and taught there for six years. Since then, I’ve enjoyed an increasingly active career in music education of all ages and skill levels. I believe in the philosophy of pianist Vladimir Horowitz in that, “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice.”

When not at the piano or attending my studies, I’m a long distance runner and run a marathon in a different city every year. I also have a background in martial arts and earned a 2nd degree black belt in Kajukenbo Karate in the Fall of 2020. I’m also an avid reader and enjoy Stephen King novels.
