Piano Instructor

Josh Meadows

Josh Meadows is a pianist, composer and teacher originally from the Detroit area and currently based in Austin. He began taking classical piano lessons at 7, and around age 13 became fascinated with jazz. Fortunate enough to be mentored during his high school years by some of Detroit’s finest jazz musicians including Marcus Belgrave, James Carter and Rodney Whittaker, he went on to continue his musical education at the University of Michigan, where he studied with such luminaries as Geri Allen, Bob Hurst and Andrew Bishop. Gigging professionally since 14, Josh has become well versed in many styles of music including jazz, classical, hip-hop, funk, R&B and pop – in addition to exploring composing his own experimental music. His passion for performance and composition is equaled by his dedication to music education: he finds teaching to be an essential aspect of his musical vocation, out of respect both for his teachers and the generations to come. He loves identifying each student’s unique goals, and forming custom lessons to help unlock the musical and creative potential we all have. Currently Josh splits his time between performing in the Austin area and beyond, freelance studio work, writing original music, and his studio of students.
