Born and raised in Austin, Shane started studying classical piano at the age of 4 and went on to study jazz and classical piano at the University of North Texas. After UNT, he went back to school at St. Edward’s University to study mathematics, and conducted a research project on the intersection between math and music theory. Shane is passionate about teaching all ages, skill levels, and musical styles. In addition to his teaching experience, Shane is an active participant in the music scene in Austin, regularly performing and recording with jazz and blues bands. This exposure allows him to bring real-world musical experiences into the classroom and share his passion for diverse musical styles with his students.
